The meals we produce are made to suit the needs of the elderly or vulnerable adults, but anyone is able to access the service, there is no eligibility criteria.  We produce a range of over 70 meals to give people choice but also to meet many dietary requirements.  These include a range of vegetarian, vegan, soft foods, pureed meals and meals suitable for coeliacs. We are able to discuss with individuals further individual requirements. We keep a stock of ethnic and cultural meals which we buy in for their authenticity. All our meals comply with the National Association of Care Catering nutritional guidelines. Please note all our meals are 2 course and can be ordered with a dessert or soup.

In addition to the main meal we also deliver a breakfast and a variety of tea time snack packs.  This enables a customer to receive 3 meals a day 7 days a week.  The service is flexible and County Enterprise Foods can deliver meals one day a week or seven days a week. The service can be used on a regular basis or as a one off.

The method of delivery is either hot or frozen. In providing both hot and frozen deliveries the customer is able to have the service which best suits their individual needs and lifestyle, promoting independence.

Hot meals delivered to your door

The hot service is available 5 days a week and 7 days a week to the most vulnerable.  The meal will be delivered between 11.00a.m. and 2.00 p.m. Whichever time the first meal to the customer is delivered this will be the time of subsequent deliveries. The menu gives a choice of three meals a day and can also include a breakfast and tea pack(delivered at lunchtime with your main meal). This service is invaluable for anyone who is unable to reheat their own meal.  This could be a physical reason or because of dementia.  With this service the customer has a daily visit by the driver, who is often the only person they may see.

All the drivers are DBS checked and have training in Equalities and Diversity,Scam Awareness, some have dementia training and are Dignity Champions.

In addition to delivering the meal the driver also carries out safe and well checks. If a driver is unable to deliver the meal, or has concerns about the customer, the meals are uneaten or the customer is in distress they will phone the office who will contact the next of kin or relevant person/authority.  The driver will also perform small tasks to assist the customer i.e. cutting up the meal, plating the meal, fetching condiments, helping the customer to the table, pouring a cold drink and bringing the mail in.

Frozen meals

The frozen service is delivered Monday to Friday. Delivery times are between 9.00a.m. and 3.00p.m.  The customer selects from the brochure the meals of their choice and delivery is arranged. This service suits the more active customer who does not want to wait in everyday for the driver, the person who may go out to a club or visiting on certain days.  It is also the service for people who may not choose to eat their main meal at lunchtime but prefer to eat in the evening, or may have a carer come in to prepare the meal.  All the meals may be reheated in a microwave, steamer of conventional oven it enables the carer to reheat a nutritionally well balanced meal and have time to spend with the customer.

The Benefits

Good nutrition and hydration form part of the package to good health.  By eating well the risks of dementia, trips and falls, heart disease and strokes are reduced.  By preventing or delaying illness, in turn, prevents and reduces health care costs and hospital admissions.

On discharge from hospital our service providing a nutritious hot meal and a daily visit will help the risk of re admission. We have also introduced a ‘Home from Hospital Hamper’ delivery which enable the customer to order basic shopping items from a list and upon delivery of the first hot meal a hamper will be delivered containing commodities to enable them to have drinks and snacks in addition to our meals to get over the first few days until other services can be put into place.

By having a meal delivered the customer also has the interaction with a member of the public on a daily basis. Our service also enables family members and carers some peace of mind. With our drivers delivering a meal daily there is that regular check.  We will not leave a meal without seeing the customer, if there is any cause for concern we will raise an alarm or phone the contact provided.  This is invaluable for family and friends who do not live nearby.

We work very closely with other professionals and we are part of framework which links into other services.

The price for the service is £4.85
