Open Door1 Sitting Service

The Service

Open Door1 is a committed team of people who have worked in dementia services for many years. We formed, to provide a service to people who suffer from the effects of early stage memory loss (dementia).

We fully understand that living with a memory problem is not easy. It can strike at any time and any age and we know how challenging this can be.

Our Aim

We aim to reduce stress and the sense of social isolation by raising awareness of dementia within the community. We offer our group members opportunities to take part in social activities as well as being included in the decision making process of how we develop as a service. This is achieved by providing social events and activities to encourage carers and family members to participate. We accept persons of working age as well as older persons.

Our services are not just for those who suffer from memory impairment, we encourage carers and family members to join our self help groups, where all aspects of living and coping with dementia can be discussed. The group offers a place where you can find support and share concerns. Our aim is to provide information, help and support to everyone to the best of our ability and to provide assistance in all aspects of the management of dementia-associated symptoms.

Sitting Service

We now offer a sitting service. Allowing strangers into your home can be daunting. Trained and DBS checked staff from our main groups provide the service. The cost of the service is £25 for the first hour and subsequent hours are charged at £17.50 per hour (2 hour minimum charge applies).

Access Our Service

The service can be accessed easily by contacting your professional worker. We also take self-directed referrals to the service manager at Open Door1.

We are an approved provider to Nottinghamshire County Council and take members who are self-funding, direct payments and managed budgets.
