Maria Smith – Butterflies Childminding Services
I am a 32-year-old mother to two beautiful little girls. I am Ofsted-registered with a Good grading at my last inspection. I provide Early Years care (0–5) and before and after school care. I drop off and collect from Standhill Infants School in Carlton.
I have a first class degree in Childhood Studies and also have a Masters degree in Psychology which, after having my first daughter, I decided to put my knowledge to good use by becoming a home-based Early Years Educator. I have also spent time working in Primary Schools, youth groups, and I was a 'Beat the Bullying' mentor for some years. I work alongside my mother-in-law (who is also an Ofsted Registered Childminder) and we provide a welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment for your child. We have a large garden and dedicated playroom with an extensive range of toys and equipment to provide activities for play-based, child-led learning, covering all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Childcare Information and Additional Needs
Settling In
- How will you help children to settle into your setting?
- We like the parent/carer to come to visit us and the setting with their child/children prior to deciding whether they would like to take up a place. We then offer gradual settling in sessions prior to the child's start date.
Progress
- How will you communicate with parents/carers about their child's progress?
- We like to ensure that parents/carers are kept up to date with their child's progress. We use an online system to make this easy (parents are able to access this system on their computer, laptop or smartphone).
