Profile

Hi my name is Kellie and I am a self employed Dementia Support Worker, working in the community. I have both professional and personal experience in helping people with dementia, and am constantly learning, both on the job and through training professionally.

Every person's journey with dementia is different, and as such, their care needs to be tailored specifically around them as a person and their needs. I like to get to know a person really well, and their family, so that I can provide the best possible care for the individual. I also believe in taking the time to listen to family members, and providing support for them is vital. I so far have hands on experience in working with people with Vascular Dementia, Alzheimer's, Visual Posterior Atrophy and Mixed Dementia. I am learning, through training, about the many more types of dementia also.

My passion for helping others through such a difficult time in their lives, has arisen from a very personal experience and how, as a family, we had to deal with it. We were thrown into the world of health & social care and didn't know where to turn for help. My Mother was diagnosed with early on-set dementia at the age of 60, and had a very aggressive form. If it wasn't for the wonderful PA's that helped her at home, I don't know how we would have coped.

It is so important that you have the right person for you, or your family member, and I am insistent on this. My ethos is, to take care of someone how I would like to be taken care of, or indeed, a family member.

My job is to help you remain independent in your own home. I can help with the following (but not limited to): Assistance with personal hygiene, domestic chores, cooking, shopping, dog walking, transportation to appointments or clubs, medical appointments, social inclusion, companionship, assistance with paperwork/admin. I also have clients that live away from their family member and have employed me as an emergency contact and advocate for their family member.

Please give me a call to discuss your requirements, and I will help you design a bespoke care package tailored for you or your loved one.
