Overview
The Cedars are a group of three purpose-built bungalows where we support 14 men and women who have moderate to severe learning disabilities, complex physical disabilities and associated needs. The service currently supports individuals with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, pica and sensory impairments.
Each individual has been supported to design a weekly timetable of leisure activities which they enjoy and which enable them to develop their skills and work towards their goals. People can access a wide range of pursuits and many individuals spend some of their week at the Grove Resource Centre which is within the same grounds.
People living at The Cedars all have different communication needs. We work with each person to understand the way they prefer to communicate and how they wish to be supported. Staff will receive training tailored to each individual’s needs.
Our Environment
Each bungalow has been specifically designed to be wheelchair accessible throughout and has the adaptations individuals may need to support and promote their independence.
The Cedars are able to offer on-site physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, as well as access to sporting activities designed to encourage people to use and stretch their muscles and improve tone and posture.
The Cedars sit within large, grounds, all of which are accessible for individuals who use wheelchairs and walking aids or require support to move around. The gardens are ideal for summer parties, BBQs and general socialising. We also have a pet cat who people enjoy looking after and spending time with.
