Understanding Media: Media Literacy

Overview

This is to help explore how media influences our thoughts, behaviours, and everyday decisions. As media plays a central role in how we live, work, and connect, participants will develop practical skills to analyse and interpret different forms of content.
Attendees will build critical thinking and research skills to evaluate information more confidently and distinguish between credible and misleading sources. The session will cover the impact of mainstream media, social media dynamics, and ways to identify fake versus reliable information.
The workshops also introduces participants to how media generates revenue, provides a hands-on look at online radio and "studio in a box" tools, and offers a basic overview of media law. By the end, participants will be better equipped to navigate and assess media content in the modern digital world.
