Are you trying to access council support/services, but require translation & interpretation or sign language interpretation support?
As of Sunday 31 December 2023, the Sign Language Interpretation Service will be changing to a new model of delivery.
Sign language Interpretation Service (SLIS) is now included within the council's corporate services via a new Translation and Interpretation Framework. The new service has a planned start date of Monday 1 January.
There are three providers for Translation and Interpretation services:
1st - Da Languages
2nd - AA Global
3rd - Word 360
Service Features:
Face to face interpreting
Telephone interpreting
Video interpreting
Transcription & Translations
There are two providers for Sign Language Interpretation Services:
1st - Nottinghamshire Deaf Society (NDS)
2nd - On Call
New service features:
Two providers offering bookable face to face and virtual appointments
Virtual appointments available via Video Technology
24/7 Booking portals with block booking capability
Emergency ‘out of hours' bookings
Changes to the service:
Professionals will now book on behalf of citizens
Bookings can now only be arranged via your professional. If you would like to book a translator or interpreter, please speak to a professional such as; Social Care, Education & Health Professionals. They will contact Nottingham City Council to arrange booking on your behalf.
The Sign Language Interpretation Service Drop-In at Nottinghamshire Deaf Society will no longer take place from 1st January 2023. Professionals will be able to signpost you to the appropriate support required.
