The NHS App in Nottingham.

Overview

The NHS App enables you to have easy access to a growing range of health services and information.

It doesn’t replace existing services. You can still contact your GP surgery in the usual ways.

Using the NHS App, you can:

  • Manage GP and hospital appointments, anytime, anywhere
  • Contact your GP to request an appointment or other help from the team
  • Order repeat prescriptions
  • Securely message health and care professionals
  • Access your medical records, whenever you need them
  • See results for tests ordered by your GP
  • Track and record your symptoms
  • Link NHS App profiles to share health information with family and carers
  • Access NHS 111 for medical help
  • Access a wide range of NHS services near you and reliable health information online

Exact functions will depend on your GP Practice and/or hospital department.

How to register for the NHS App

Step 1 – Access the NHS App

Go to the app store on your device. For Apple phones, use the App Store. For Android phones, use Google Play. Search for the NHS App to download and install or type in NHS App in your web browser.

Step 2 – Set up your NHS login

Enter your email address details in the app and choose a password. Remember, the email address cannot be shared with another person. Confirm the email sent to you by NHS App. Provide your mobile phone number and enter the six-digit security code. Make sure you keep your password safe.

Steps 3 – Prove who you are

You’ll only need to do this once to register. Register with your photo ID. ID can be passport, UK or European driving licence or European national identity card. Choose one and then submit a photo of this on the app. Provide your postcode. It must be the same one registered with your GP. Your information will be checked and you will receive a confirmation email in 2-3 days.

Or

Use your GP surgery online services registration details if you don’t have valid photo ID. You can use the following three registration details to prove who you are instead of using photo ID

  • Linkage key or passphrase
  • ODS Code or Practice ID
  • Account ID

Ask your GP reception team to provide these if you don’t have them.

Step 4 – Registration confirmed

Once your details are confirmed, you will now have full access to your NHS App record.
