Overview
"Creating an open, inclusive and safe learning environment since 1999"
Our Ethos:
The Honey Pot Private Day Nursery works in a positive partnership with our staff, children, families and outside agencies to create an inclusive learning environment which is safe, nurturing, encouraging and respectful to all individuals.
Our clear vision:
- To provide a secure, happy and stimulating environment for all children to flourish
- For all children to develop in all areas of learning whilst building upon their confidence and resilience, making choices and exploring different cultures and celebrations.
- To help all children prepare for the next steps, in and outside of our home from home setting.
Our aims:
Our aims contribute to our children’s capabilities as successful learners, to gain responsibility and become effective contributors. We thrive on exploring the needs and interest of the children for them to reach their full potential, to become their best selves and working towards their next steps. This also corresponds with preparing for their futures, whatever it may be.
We pride ourselves in our setting being called a "home from home setting" and being "an extended family" to our families who are at The Honey Pot. Everyday is a learning day and there is always lots of activities and resources to choose from our enabling environment. We explore lots of different topics and celebrations, but we always have the children’s interests at heart and will adapt to what and how they want to learn as well. All staff have regular continuous development training which is a working document, we also use peer review to reflect on our work and fulfil our learning potential.
Our Values:
Strong, caring partnerships: Developing genuine, nurturing and sincere relationships to have our parents as our partners.
Happiness & wellbeing: Exploring emotions, showing care and valuing ideas
Enjoyment & curiosity: Being involved, interested, exploring opportunities, having own ideas and celebrating cultures and achievements.

The Nursery provides cow's milk. If your child does not drink cow's milk we ask that you send in at the beginning of each week their own milk which on their last day each week will be sent home with them. Milk cartons sent in from home must be sealed.
Parent's are asked to provide formula milk (in readymade carton form) for babies.
Each room has a list of children with allergy/ dietary requirements, what they are, what room they are in and what days they attend.
Special needs (children)
Staff attend relevant training courses and we purchase the appropriate resources. Our staff have experience of working with children with autism, partially sighted, and language difficulties.
SEND Approach
The Honey Pot Private Day Nursery is committed to the integration of children with SEND and we have high aspirations for all children. All children have the right to be educated and develop to their full protentional beside each other. Children are routinely assessed and monitored from their first settling-in session at nursery. This includes a baseline assessment being carried out in collaboration with parents/carers and termly assessments thereafter including a childs Progress Check at age 2 years. Progress is monitored and tracked through tapestry and we also use the NCC Early Years Prime Tracking Tool. Through this system we are able to early identify any additional support children may require. Children with additional needs are continued to be tracked and monitored through this system we can then break down their development into small and measurable steps.
We work in close liaisons with the families of the children with SEND and the outdoor agencies involved with their journey too. Our setting follows The Graduated Approach: Assess, Plan, Do and Review cycle. As the SEND Code of Practice (2015) states: This four-part cycle through which earlier decisions and actions are revisited, refined and revised with a growing understanding of the pupils needs and of what supports the pupil in making good progress and securing good outcomes Following this cycle enables us identify needs and support our children for them to achieve their full potential.
