Where are we?

We are located in Toton, midway between Beeston and Long Eaton in Nottinghamshire. The Herons is situated in a quiet residential area. It’s easily accessible to public transport and is located near both the M1 and A52. Lovely Beeston is approximately three miles from Toton. Attenborough Nature Centre, Chilwell Manor Golf Course and Trent Lock Golf & Country Club can all be found nearby.

Arts and crafts and more

We have a schedule of optional events and activities, helping residents to explore their interests and discover new ones. There’s armchair exercises, gardening, baking, flower arranging, arts and crafts, bingo, quizzes, bible studies and church services. We also have a dedicated chaplain at The Herons.

Entertainment can be anything from a guinea pig visit to the male music choir, and a highlight of the week is when the children from the local primary school come in to read to residents. We enjoy themed events and taking trips out, often visiting a garden centre, or going for lunch or afternoon tea.

Chaplaincy and pastoral support

We are proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. The chaplain provides a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs - and organise worship for those who wish to participate. Where appropriate, residents are encouraged to maintain links with local faith communities.

Seize the day – unique and memorable opportunities

Funded through charitable support, every MHA care home also prides itself in being able to offer unique and memorable opportunities and activities for residents to quite literally help them 'seize the day'.
