The Helpful Bureau - Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle

Overview

Office open Monday to Friday 9-3

Who can use the wheelchair accessible transport?

  • You must live in South Broxtowe and have mobility difficulties and no access to a suitable vehicle.

What can it be used for?

  • We can arrange transport for most purposes including shopping, social activities, access to local services/support groups, medical appointments, and visiting friends or family.

Where can I go?

  • The service generally operates in and around the Broxtowe area but can go further afield. Please ask for details.

How much will it cost?

  • Journeys are charged at £1 per mile and £2 booking fee. All passengers are charged separate fares, except where a wheelchair user must be accompanied by a carer. Fares for additional passengers are dependent on the number of people traveling. The maximum number of passengers is the wheelchair user plus 4 people. There is a minimum charge of £5.

How do I pay?

  • Cash payment should be made directly to the driver on completion of the journey. Alternative arrangements for payment by invoice can be made available on request.

How do I book a journey?

  • Call us and we take down your details. We need at least 48 hours notice for you to book a journey, but the more notice you can give us the better. We will do our best to get a driver for your journey. If no driver is available we will call you back and let you know. Please remember that all our drivers are volunteers who give freely of their time - we do not run a taxi service.

The details provided in these service listings are supplied by individual providers and not checked for accuracy. The Council does not provide any representation that the individual providers will meet your needs and does not accept any responsibility for making these checks. It is important that you carry out your own checks of DBS certificates and other qualifications to satisfy yourself that they are acceptable and meet your needs.
