The Ark at Wellin Lane Pre-School

Overview

The Ark at Wellin Lane Pre-school was established as a Christian playgroup in 1992 and has always been part of the Rock Church and local Edwalton community. We have a Christian ethos and embrace all. We are situated in a bright modern church building with use of several rooms and outdoor play area. We are a voluntary managed setting, inspected by Ofsted and receiving local authority grant funding.

Our aims are:

  • To put children at the heart of everything we do.
  • To provide a happy, caring, homely, and inspiring environment supporting children’s emotional well-being and independence.
  • To follow the children’s interests using a play-based approach to learning.
  • To develop strong partnerships with families to support their child’s development and well-being.
  • To provide and encourage confident communicators through our language rich environment.
  • To provide a Christian ethos and understanding of basic Christian values.

We offer Forest School sessions on Wednesday mornings, which we use the woodland area at the back of Edwalton Primary School to hold these sessions. We have a qualified level 3 Forest School leader, who leads these sessions each week.

Dietary needs

If children choose to do the 8-9am, cereal will be provided. We provide snack for the children at around, 10am and 2pm. This snack consists of fruit, vegetable sticks and milk or water. If your child has any allergies or intolerances, we ask that you inform us before they start so we can ensure all staff are able to make sure your child's needs are catered for.

Children bring their own packed lunch to our setting for lunch at 12pm. We ask that parents follow our healthy eating policy and also avoid sending their child with food such as nuts, to help us keep all children safe.

Again if your child has an intolerance or allergy we will ensure your child is sat away from children whose lunchbox contains items of those groups of food.
