Experience the great outdoors with The Adventure Service's Adult Short Breaks!
Join us for weekends filled with adventure, specifically for adults with additional support needs. Whilst we’re adventuring, we ensure our Adventurers are working toward achieving their potential through adventure and learning key life skills.
Each one of our Adult Short Breaks is themed with an exciting outdoor activities like canoeing, caving, rock climbing, bushcraft, gorge walking - the list goes on. Put it this way, if you think about an adventurous activity, you can be sure that we offer it.
Our weekend short breaks run Friday (4:00pm) to Sunday (4:00pm) allowing us two days jam packed with adventure. Transport is provided from all three of our day service centres (Mansfield Woodhouse, Top Valley, and Chesterfield) so there’s no need to get to some remote outdoor centre in the Peak District.
Together, we create an inclusive environment where Adventurer participates in tasks like cleaning up and food preparation. Though adventure is top of the agenda, we feel it’s also vitally important that we teach life skills whilst away on our short breaks.
Collaboration is also key. During the days leading up to a short break, our day service Adventurers (most of which will be attending the short break itself) play a vital role in planning the menu, gathering resources, and organizing activities.
These breaks are not exclusive to Day Service attendees; they're open to all adults with additional support needs. It's a fantastic opportunity to bond with peers and, importantly, gives parents and carers a well-deserved weekend break.
Offering 17 short break weekends in 2024 there is a very limited amount of time to secure your adventure, so make sure you book before it’s too late.

Times and availability
The Adult Short Break weekends can be paid through Personal Budgets arranged by your local Learning Disability Team.
You do not need to attend The Adventure Service's Day Service to attend our Adult Short Breaks
