Skills Exchange Nottingham

Overview

Activities Take Place When Arranged By Members.

We are a Time Bank covering the whole of the City of Nottingham. Members come from a wider area, including, Beeston and Clifton if they travel into the city regularly. The Sherwood Exchange food swap project is a separate hub of ours. We also have other groups who are members, such as the Sumac Centre and Windmill Community Gardens. Our business is run by a committee who meet monthly.
Our main business is carrying out work for one another, we call these exchanges. Exchanges, like our membership, are many and varied, and include IT support, clothing repairs and help with gardening, shopping and housework. We earn time credits for our work, rather than money and we bank these on a website - Time Online 2. We can then spend these on help from other members.
We also hold regular social events, outings and workshops and network with other similar organisations in Nottingham.
For more information or to arrange to meet us for an informal chat please email: skillsexchangeNG@gmail.com.
We are a member of Time Banking UK, a registered charity.

Costs

We do not have any charges, but members can ask for payment for materials and travel when carrying out exchanges. We fundraise and seek grant funding to cover expenses. We are asking for a voluntary membership fee of between £1 and £10, but you do not need to pay this when you first join, or if you can't afford it.

Referral

Referral requiredNo

We ask for two references from people over 16 who have known you well for over 2 years (not relatives). However if this is not possible, we have an alternative.
