Shelly McGee

Overview

I have previously worked as a primary school teacher for 13 years, working with children from 4-11 years old before deciding to work as a childminder.

Prior to teaching I was a nurse at the local hospital and then a carer in the community.

I have 3 adult children (one of which has special needs) and 2 grandchildren, whom I love spending time with.

I have a BA (Hons) in Primary Education with qualified teacher status, a First Aid Certificate and have completed the Introduction for Homebased Practitioners course. I have a Safeguarding Children Certificate.

My setting is a detached house with a large garden and play area. There are a variety of resources to facilitate teaching and teaming towards the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Planned activities, indoors and outdoors will help each child reach their next stepping stone in a fun, interactive way. Visits to toddler groups, parks etc are planned during the week. My environment is caring, enjoyable and safe in order for children to secure and happy.

My policies include: Safeguarding Children, Behaviour Management, Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Complaints, Sick Child, Fire Evacuation Procedure and drill, Lost Child.
