Services for Empowerment and Advocacy CIO

Overview

We have provided our independent advocacy and participation services to Housing Associations for many years, assisting service users with complaints and supporting them through policies and procedures. We plan participation meetings and encourage service users to attend and speak up about the service they receive.
If a service user has concerns, comments or a complaint about the service they receive, SEA can work with them to ensure their views are heard and responded too. We believe that enabling people to have their say, influences change at a grass roots and strategic level.
Access to an independent advocacy service can lead to positive results for participants, staff and service providers. Our working practice is firmly based on the concept of "Dialogue not Confrontation". We endeavour to make people aware of their choices, and support and encourage them to speak up to get their views heard.
SEA continue to work in partnership with universities by contributing to the teaching of Social Work students alongside participants with lived experience, academics and lecturers.
Currently we are recruiting volunteers to join our team to continue our involvement in the education of trainee social workers studying at both Nottingham universities. We are looking for people who have faced issues with mental health, substance misuse, homelessness and offending and want to share their experiences.
