Overview
Shop opens 8am - 4pm. Young people choose the hours they want to do, totally personalised to their choice.
Sam's Workplace offers a realistic, fun and supportive working placement for people with a learning disability, together with independence and social skills. We run a small café and sweet shop, so there are plenty of opportunities for daily life and work skills, money skills, weight and measuring, catering, customer care and social interaction in a supported and friendly environment. We are based within our local community and have allotments based in Blidworth offering a seed to table project growing fruit and vegetables, together with horticulture skills and some small animal care with chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.
We also have an enterprise workshop above the shop, making arts and crafts goods for sale within the shop and at local community fairs.
We also have an independent bedroom, bathroom and kitchen training areas so our users can learn home making skills such as hoovering, bed making, dusting, cleaning which can be replicated at home.
But most of all we have lots of fun whilst on site, and often arrange trips out within our local community, utilising travelling skills and social interactions.
Times and availability
We encourage all new starters to come and meet us all prior to starting.
Age Range: Predominantly work with ages 16 years upwards, but have worked with younger ages. No upper age limit!!
Contact
we are based in Rainworth, but there is a bus stop directly outside the shop. We are a TITAN safe haven and actively promote independent travel skills by walking, driving or public transport.
Costs
Our costs are set per hour regardless of how many hours you do. Costs are for the placement - once placement is booked, unfortunately you pay whether you attend or not, as activities and staffing will be in place for your young person.
We also accept placements via the Nottinghamshire Day Care Portal, short breaks placements, direct payments or privately funded.
Referral
We like everyone to come and visit us for a chat and look around. We know that it takes a lot of consideration and we want everyone to be happy with their placement. If you need several visits, then that's fine with us!
Come and have a cuppa - look around and talk to us - looking forward to meeting you.
