We are an Outstanding Pre-school based within Abbey and Lady Bay Family Hub, on the site of Abbey Road school. We take children from 2.5 to 5 years and have provision for 20 children per day.
We are open Monday to Friday 9 am to 3.15 pm term time only.
We are a small team of 5 which consists of an Early Years Teacher and 2 highly qualified level 3 teachers. The two Owners/Managers work within the provision, one holds an Early Years degree, and the other holds an NNEB. Both have over 30 years of experience.
Staff are all Paediatric First Aid trained and have specialist training in areas such as Supporting Early Language development, Supporting children's emotional wellbeing, etc....
We have a very experienced Special Educational Needs Officer who is also part of the management team who monitors and assesses children's learning and will put in place support for those children who may have barriers to learning.
We work closely with parents and outside agencies to make sure children get the best possible start to their learning and development. Staff are highly experienced in Child Education & Development and this was highlighted in our recent Ofsted. Staff are able to support families around toileting, language development etc.. They can also signpost to other services.
We also work in partnership with Nottingham Trent University and have had students on placement with us. We also work closely with Abbey Road Primary school and St Edmund Campion Primary school, especially around transition into school. We are a few minutes walk from both of these schools.
We provide an environment rich in open-ended resources that encourage children's natural awe and wonder. Creating an environment that is rich in learning and enabling children to reach their full potential.
Our highly professional staff team works as key workers for small groups of children. They assess and plan for each child's individual learning and development needs. They will keep you informed on a termly basis as to your child's development and we hold yearly parent consultations to discuss your child's learning and development. Our staff will also support families to enhance their child's learning at home with target's.They can give advise on ages and stages of a child's development and can also signpost to other services.
Children come to us with all varying levels of ability and we work with their interests to develop their learning. We are set on the site of Abbey Road Primary and feed into both Abbey Road Primary and St Edmund Campion Primary School. We have a homely inside area with soft furnishings to give that home from home feeling. We have a large outside are for children to explore with an allotment where we grow vegetables and flowers for the bees. We have a varied curriculum that supports children's interests in the world they live in. We recycle and reuse to make us more sustainable. We use natural and authentic materials to teach the children about their world. We go out on small local trips to engage within the local community and we have a bigger trip out with all the children and parents if they wish to come, to a venue chosen by the children. e.g Twycross zoo, as the children wanted to see real animals such as a lion. We develop early language skills through a language rich environment and the use of songs and stories. We encourage parents engagement within the life of the Pre-school and consider them as part of our Pre-school family.
