Overview
The Association was founded in 1978 following television coverage of an electronically controlled artificial arm that was not at that time available on the NHS. Although the main campaign was designed to bring the myoelectric arm into the UK for children, it also identified the need for a support group. Reach now offers support to families whose children have many and varied hand or arm differences.

Local Offer
Reach offers support and information for families with children who are missing all or part of a hand/arm or with hand/fingers which are malformed.
Reach has a number of branches in various parts of the country which provide the opportunity for families to meet locally. It also publishes a newsletter 'Within Reach'. The newsletters contain a wide range of information and articles on individual families' experiences, new developments, details of Branch activities, fund raising efforts, etc.
