Overview
The Oral Health Improvement Team works to improve oral health throughout Nottinghamshire.
The Oral Health Team aims to:
- signpost children and vulnerable adults to appropriate dental care
- raise awareness of oral health key messages
- help reduce tooth decay in children
The Oral Health Team facilitates a range of oral health programmes in the community, including:
- Toothbrushing packs given out via health visitors
- Targeted supervised toothbrushing
A supervised toothbrushing programme for targeted primary schools. - Oral Health Training
Interactive oral health training sessions for local staff and practitioners, to ensure that oral health messages are consistent and shared across the area. - Dental Engagement.
The Oral Health Team works in partnership with local dental practices and local dental practitioners to share key oral health messages and signpost local services to support mouthcare.
The Oral Health Team supports a variety of local and national campaigns to raise awareness of key oral health messages. They include National Smile Month, Mouth Cancer Action Month, No Smoking Day, Stoptober, World Book Day and National Kissing Day.
