Volunteering stories

Breastfeeding peer support volunteering

Emily, one of the Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteers, talks about what volunteering means to her in this 1-minute YouTube video.

Quote from a Family Hub volunteer:

When I started attending .... I came in very shy and nervous. I attended a course.... That led me to volunteering. I found what I felt comfy doing and have stayed in the same role. I am confident enough to try other things if I wanted to.”

Volunteering journey

Karen talks about how her volunteering journey lead to her job as a Community Development Worker in the Family Hubs Team in this 2-minute YouTube video.

More quotes from Family Hub volunteers:

It makes me feel part of the community in my village and like I'm offering a valuable service to people

From the very beginning, the process was quick and efficient, and I’ve felt completely supported and encouraged to explore this new path. All the staff I’ve come into contact with have been so positive, kind, supportive, and fun! They are all passionate, committed, caring, and community-focused, and they’ve inspired me even more to want to be part of working in this field – supporting children and families in the best way possible, when they need it most.
