Overview
Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service (NCVS) is an infrastructure organisation that works to strengthen and sustain the voluntary sector across Nottingham and the neighbouring area. Our vision is a thriving voluntary, community and social enterprise sector (VCSE) in Nottingham that improves the quality of people's lives in the city.
By developing resilient partnerships with public, private and voluntary organisations, NCVS strives to offer city-wide support services to community and voluntary groups; provide a central strategic voice for the voluntary sector and increase the scale, quality and impact of volunteering in Nottingham.
We support the sector through:
- Volunteering: Improving the quality of volunteering and breadth of volunteering opportunities across the city;
- Voluntary sector development: Strengthening the voluntary sector’s capacity to help its clients through promoting best practice, funding advice and training;
- Voices: Speaking up for the voluntary sector on issues crucial to its future, and increasing the sector’s access to, and influence upon, decision makers.

Strategic Voice
We facilitate a number of networks that exist to share information and provide voluntary sector representation at key meetings across the City in order to influence decision making. NCVS networks encourage co-production with all stakeholders and act as a channel for a strong strategic voice that enables us to champion the place of the voluntary sector in Nottingham City.

Practice Development Unit
NCVS co-ordinates a range of projects aimed at improving outcomes for citizens in Nottingham - including the Practice Development Unit (PDU), which works in collaboration with the Changing Futures programme in Nottingham City to promote good practice, share expertise and offer learning opportunities to professionals and volunteers who work with people experiencing severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD).
For more information about the PDU, please contact pdu@nottinghamcvs.co.uk, read more on the NCVS website (opens in new tab) , or visit the PDU portal at www.pdunottingham.org.
Contact
We operate a hybrid model of working. A few NCVS staff are based primarily in the office, while most of the team continue to deliver our services remotely and in the community, so access the office space less frequently. Please note, at this time we are unable to offer a drop-in service. Visits are by prior arrangement only.
