If you need information or support on equipment or setting up technology, our Sight Loss Advisors can arrange an appointment at our Nottingham Hub or visit you in your home. Whether you have a new laptop that needs setting up, a new TV that isn't working as it should or you would like to have a look at a variety of equipment that can support you to be independent, our Sight Loss Advisors can help.
Tech Befrienders
Smart technology is an excellent way of supporting your independence but can be very daunting if you have never used anything like it before. If you are brand new to smart devices such as phones, tablets, speakers and laptops or if you want to just get online for the first time, our Tech Befrienders can help you become more confident in using online services and smart technology. They will visit you at home and where this is not possible, in most circumstances they can support you remotely. We have a number of devices that can be loaned out to you so that you can ‘try before you buy'. Tech Befrienders will also be on hand to offer advice around purchasing the equipment.
Smart Room
Our Smart Room at our Heathcoat Street offices is designed to be a real living room and kitchen environment and showcase a range of useful tech and equipment to support your independence at home.
From the most sophisticated talking TV and smart speakers to ‘bump-ons' - small brightly coloured raised dots that can be stuck to a range of equipment to make it more accessible, we can demonstrate a wide range of aids to help you at home.
