Overview
I am an Ofsted registered childminder and was awarded a 'Good' grade at my last inspection (2022). I work with my wife who is also a registered childminder so we can provide lots of attention, and all the children in our care are well supervised. We have a fully comprehensive range of policies, procedures and risk assessments to ensure the safety of all children in our care at all times.
Our home is spacious, and in 2011 we converted our detached garage into a dedicated playroom, and this is stocked with toys, books, games and creative materials especially for the children. Our outdoor area is secure and ideal for children with a large patio for ride-on toys, a lawned area for games and picnics and a vegetable plot where the children enjoy growing their own fruit and vegetables for use in our home cooked meals.
Each half term we plan for every child's individual needs, and ensure that these plans are in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS). In addition to this, during term time, the children enjoy many other activities including, visits to indoor soft play centres, local farms, country parks, adventure parks, garden centres, libraries, museums, toddler groups, National Trust properties and other places of interest.
Through our regular assessments, we not only ensure that the children in our care progress to their full potential, but we are also able to highlight any areas where they may need additional help. Should this be the case, we have excellent working partnerships with other professionals who can offer more detailed information and support.
I like to ensure that my skills and knowledge are up-to-date, especially with regards to Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding Children, and regularly attend courses to do this. In 2009 I gained the CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Home-based Childcare.

Dietary needs
I am happy to provide for a child with a restricted diet after consulting with the child's parents. However, I am also happy for parents to provide their own food/drink should they prefer to do so.
Special needs (children)
I already have some experience of caring for a child with complex special needs and I would welcome more. However, I would need to consult with the child's parents to ensure I can meet their needs so that the child receives the best possible care.
