Hi my name is Gem and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder. I am a mum of four, a step-mum and now a Grandma! My mum was a childminder when I was small and I knew that I’d always want to work in childcare and for it to become my end goal.
I have many years of experience as both a Childminding Assistant and working as an Early Years Practitioner in a Day Nursery, and am qualified in Childcare at Level 3. I enjoy expanding my knowledge, more recently completing a Level 2 Certificate in Neuroscience in the Early Years to better understand how the little ones brains form and function. I also have a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, an experience in extensive allergies and care needs.
My setting is very much a ‘home from home’ environment where children can feel relaxed and with the same comforts they will likely have in their own homes. My indoor space is bright and enriching and my outdoor space gives more than enough space for a huge range of activities. I use a professional approach in my work and teaching, but make the relationships I have with my key children and parents a personal one too. In the past this has worked really well and my testimonials portray that, producing a trusting relationship.
When it comes to my curriculum, I like to use a mixture of child-led and adult-led activities to help your little ones grow. I follow the Development Matters process of the Early Years Statutory Framework as a baseline, and provide parents with termly progression updates in a more ‘easy on the eyes’ format. Every child is an individual and I strive to make sure that this is at the heart of everything I do.

Please note: In order to meet school drop off times, we will need to leave the house at 8:20am and will return by 09:00 at the latest
The setting will officially open on July 1st 2024, and start taking funded children from September 2024.

Dietary needs
As a lactose and gluten intolerant person I�ve learnt to find an alternative for many different things! I have also had experience with dairy, gluten, egg, barley, strawberry and tomato allergies and intolerances just to name a few.
Special needs (children)
I have diplomas in Autism Awareness, Advanced SEND Needs, Child Behaviour and Child Development.
I also have a daughter currently going through the motions of Assessment for emotional deregulation and potential Autism.
I have also had key children (and my own) who have had impairments of speech requiring intervention.
