Dosh supports adults with a learning disability to have more control over their money. Dosh is part of each person’s circle of support and supports them in the way they want.
Dosh provides:
• appointeeship for benefits
• financial advocacy
• account management for Individual Budgets, Individual Service Funds and Direct Payments
• a one-off or regular money check
• support to get a tenancy agreement signed through the Court of Protection
We believe in doing more than just receiving money and making payments (although we do that too). We want to get to know you and help you make the most of your money to do the things you enjoy. That’s why we do financial advocacy: advocating for you and your money in a personalised way. Visit our website www.dosh.org/the-dosh-promise to read more about our values.
We have a local financial advocate based in Nottingham who will visit you and support you with your money in the way you want. She will get to know you and become part of your Circle of Support. She will support you with all aspects of your money and ensure you can spend money in the way you want or in your best interests.
You will have access to our highly valued best interest decision process for spending and we will give you accurate, up-to-date information on your money, including our accessible money plans in an appropriate format.
You will also have the support of our office team and accountant to quickly and accurately process benefit letters, bank statements, bills and payments.
Dosh can:
• check you are getting the right benefits
• support you to make a budget
• support you to pay bills and set up Direct Debits
• support you with your Individual Budget
Prices are provided by Dosh, please check them yourself for accuracy.
You may have funding for this included in your personal budget or direct payment, or you can pay yourself. Please contact us to discuss this if you are worried about the costs. Dosh is a not-for-profit company which means any surplus money is used to make the support better.
