Church Farm at Rusticus is set in a rural location on the outskirts of Cotgrave. 'Rusticus' is a Latin word meaning rural or countrified which suits the peaceful rural setting of the home as it sits in 2.5 acres of land.
The name Rusticus was chosen due to its Latin meaning but also because it was a name used by the local poet George Hickling, 1827-1909. George or 'Rusticus' was the village's well-known and much loved poet who was a framework knitter by trade. The majority of his poems are descriptive and reflective pieces suggested by everyday events and scenes around the village of Cotgrave, where he lived all his life.
His poems included The Pleasures of Memory, The Pleasures of Hope, The Pleasures of Life, all of which are congruent with Church Farm Care's vision and approach to each day for the people who live with us.
