Busy Bunnies Huthwaite

Busy Bunnies Huthwaite is a home from home Nursery environment suitable for ages 3 months 5 years. There are separate areas for each age range with regular transition settles for those moving up into the next room.

Our ethos is focused on the children’s interests and following on from their initial sparks. Our role as practitioners is to support each individual child to develop by extending their learning through the use of fortnightly goal planning and in the moment planning. We use the interests of the children as a starting point to extend their learning into multiple areas to achieve balanced development. The result of this pedagogy is to develop cultural capital and give each individual child the best possible start in life.

At Busy Bunnies Huthwaite, children will have settling in sessions when they first join with us, this supports children and their families when joining us. The first settle is around 1 hour and is at a prearranged time, this will be where the parents complete some further paperwork in the room while the child is able to explore their surroundings in the knowledge that their parents are there too. In the second settling in visit, the children have the opportunity to stay with us for one hour without their parents and with the practitioners. This enables the staff to develop bonds with the child and support them in settling in with their new environmnent. If, after the second settle the practitioners and management team feel that the child has settled in well, the child will be able to start their full sessions. However, more settling in visits can be arranged if the parents and staff would prefer.

A typical day for Busy Bunnies Huthwaite varies every day to meet the needs of each individual child. Children have access to the garden environment over the course of the day, as well as other sareas such as reading, writing and construction. We are very much 'In the Moment' meaning children have the opportunity to pursue their own interests using available resources, and the staff will extend their learning through the children's interests.
