FAO: Nottinghamshire County Council Ageing Well Care Homes and Home Care - IMPORTANT - Fair Cost of Care Exercise

Dear providers

In September the Prime Minister confirmed the government will be providing funding to support local authorities move towards paying providers a fair rate of care. The links below provides further detail on what us as a Local Authority needs to do and the expectations for fair cost of care and market sustainability, conditions of funding and distribution for 2022 to 2023. The hope is that this will enable local authorities to begin preparing local markets for social care reform.

In readiness for Nottinghamshire commencing and completing the Fair Cost of Care exercise for our Ageing Well Care Homes and Home Care we really need support from providers to ensure that we have a robust and successful process which will give us the data and evidence needed for what the fair cost is. In supporting and taking part in this exercise providers will need to take part and complete in a number of engagement events and also complete a financial questionnaire. We, along with our neighbouring authorities, have commissioned an external organisation to support this very important cost of care exercise. The organisation, called Care Analytics,  will be supported by us to complete the Fair Cost of Care in collating all the data needed for us (and all other Local Authorities) submitted to the government by September 2022 the Nottinghamshire data. There will be an agreed template/process that we use that has been jointly agreed with neighbouring authorities and Care Analytics will be using to collate the data.

We will continue to communicate with all services throughout this next few weeks/months and any engagement events will be highlighted in our weekly bulletin and also by email. We will ensure that you are kept up to date on this process and once we commence the Fair Cost of Care exercise we will be working to support them in the collation of data (ensuring that we receive as many returns as possible). We ask that you do not complete any other templates/forms for this exercise unless they have come from us or Care Analytics as we would not want you to have to do something twice.
