Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Council UPDATE BULLETIN – For all health and social care providers – Thursday 23rd June 2022

Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Council UPDATE BULLETIN – For all health and social care providers – Thursday 23rd June 2022

Dear Providers, the information below contains current and up to date information from our strategic partners for you and your staff:

New and updated guidance and support, including information on funding:

iPad Closedown - 2 weeks to go

In winter 2020 NHSX delivered 11,000 iPads to care homes across England that had restricted access to technology. This was to support video calls, when Covid-19 safety concerns meant care home residents were unable to see family members and friends in person.

On 30 June 2022, centrally funded support for Mobile Device Management software on the iPads will end. This means that the NHS will no longer control the settings on those iPads.

NHSTD has communicated over the last few months to all care providers who have iPads via an online survey to ask them how they would like to continue to use their iPad after 30 June, and what options are available to them.

iPads were gifted to the care homes in 2020, and this change is about who manages the software on the iPads; and no care home will have their iPad removed. However, information that is stored on the iPad, for example photos, may be lost if no action is taken.

Care homes can move their iPad to another care home in their area if they no longer want to use it, but this is the choice of the care home that owns the iPad.

All care homes with NHSX iPads that have not already let us know how they want to continue to use their iPad should think about what they want to do next, so they are ready for 30th June.

Please read the FAQ document attached to this email for further information including how to access support.

NEXT STEPS TO PROGRESS THE DIGITAL SKILLS FRAMEWORK

The Digital Skills Framework covers seven key themes for effective digital working and can help people working in adult social care to develop their digital skills. It is linked to case studies and training that is currently available to the sector.

The framework has been published in draft click here.

NHS-TD and Skills for Care are now at stage 2 of its development which includes developing specific skills and capabilities for each theme and further case studies and links to training.

We will be holding a series of workshop for employers and local authorities to develop the framework further.

We are looking for:

Employers who are at all stages of their digital journey, from those that are just starting to use technology to those that use technology such as hand-held devices every day. Skills for Care are looking for staff who are involved in learning and development of staff, Nominated Individuals, Registered Managers, Deputy Managers, Senior staff and Digital Champions.

Local Authorities – staff who are involved in supporting the development and roll out of local digital initiatives to the adult social care sector.

Workshop

At the workshop you will be introduced to the framework and then asked a series of questions about the specific skills and capabilities you feel should be included for each key theme.

Workshops will take place on the following dates, you will not need to attend all the sessions, however if you have multiple staff who would like to be involved, please  indicate which dates these staff will attend.
