CORONAVIRUS UPDATE BULLETIN – For Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Care Providers – Tuesday 26th January 2021

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE BULLETIN – For Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Care Providers – Tuesday 26th January 2021

Please note that this email will now be sent out twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Dear Providers, the information below contains current and up to date information from our strategic partners for you and your staff:

New and updated guidance and support, including information on funding:

Guidance - Care Home Rapid Testing Fund – 15th January 2021

Sets out the measures that the Rapid Testing Fund will support, including information on the distribution of funds and reporting requirements

For information as per the guidance: All funding must be used to support increased LFD testing in care settings. Local authorities should pass 80% of this funding to care homes[footnote 1] within the local authority’s geographical area on a ‘per beds’ basis. This includes residential drug and alcohol services.

The online form is now available for this new grant to Care homes:

Please note that this is a separate grant to cover testing costs between 2nd December 2020 and 31st March 2021, so any specific costs that you have been putting against the ICF2, which relate to testing for the period from 2nd December 2020 can now be put against this grant.

Just like the ICF2 you must commit to completing the Capacity Tracker at least weekly and you have to submit a monthly return to us on the 15th of each month  for February and March, confirming spend to the end of the previous month and forecast total spend on this grant to the end of March 2021.  A final return will then be required by 15th April 2021, confirming total spend and returning any underspend.

The conditions refer to the ICF2 return so it’s possible the government may choose to combine them into one monthly return.  We are waiting for more details on this and once we have them an appropriate template will be made available for you to do this. Please be aware that you will have to provide both spend to the end of the previous month and forecast spend by 15th February and 15th March 2021.

Care home testing update: Lateral Flow Device (LFDs) approval for self-test granted

This announcement is for care homes in England only.

Following our communications on updated staff testing using Lateral Flow Device (LFD) tests, we are pleased to inform you that we now have approval for care home staff to conduct self-test LFDs. This means your staff are now able to take and register their twice weekly LFD tests at home, before they arrive at the care home to start work.  Please see the attached document for further information.

PROTECT is a UK-wide clinical trial to identify treatments that can protect care home residents from developing COVID-19

Please consider signing up to this study:  We hope that vaccines will drive down the rate of infections in care homes but we need preventative treatments that will reduce the impact of outbreaks when they do occur.  This is massively important to helping restore normality in the care home sector and I would encourage every care home to participate if they can.  At present we’re just looking for people to register their interest, they can do this at:
