Already in receipt of a short break?

Short Break 96 hours or under not allocated by a social worker

Families awarded a Short Break of 96 hours or below, including the Standard Offer of 24 hours, will need to re-apply for their Short Break annually via the online application form.

Parents/carers and young people are able to supplement the Nottinghamshire County Council funded support by purchasing provision themselves directly from providers detailed on the Nottinghamshire County Council’s Local Offer.

Short Break above 96 hours or, a lower allocation which was the result of a Child and Family Assessment undertaken by a Social Worker

Families who have either been awarded a Short Break package above 96 hours, or have a lower allocation which was a result of a Child and Family Assessment undertaken by a social worker, will be contacted annually to arrange an interview.

The Resource Allocation System (RAS) assessment tool will continue to be used as part of the decision process to identify need and review existing outcomes. The review will ensure that the child/young person continues to meet the Threshold for the level of provision/service and that the current allocation is meeting their needs appropriately.

Following the review and re-assessment, the number of Short Break hours your child/young person is currently allocated may stay the same, be reduced, or increased.   The way your child/young person accesses their short break package should not change, whether it be via a Direct Payment or Provider service.

Should you need to request to increase in your allocation during this financial year, families will need to apply online and request a RAS Assessment.
