Ofsted and Care Quality Commission (CQC) Inspections of Special Educational Needs/Disability

The Department for Education has asked Ofsted and the CQC to carry out inspections of local areas to review how effectively services are working together to implement the SEND reforms that were introduced in September 2014.

This followed a consultation on the proposed inspection arrangements between October 2015 and January 2016. Responses were received from parents, carers and young people themselves and these help shaped the inspection handbook and framework that was published in April 2016.

All Local Areas in England would be inspected over a 5 year period commencing in May 2016. On the 13th June Nottinghamshire was notified that it would be inspected during the week commencing 22nd June 2016.

You will find on this page a link to a copy of the leaflet that Ofsted and the CQC has produced for families that explains more about these inspections.

Following each inspection Ofsted and CQC produce a joint outcome letter which sets out their findings. The findings are described under the headings of strengths and areas for development. You can read a copy of Nottinghamshire's outcome letter under the "downloads" section of this page.
