The Windmill Kindergarten CIC
We are a small, village, term-time, pre-school - our aim is to provide a safe and stimulating environment for all children to grow to their full potential.
We gained a solid GOOD in our last Ofsted inspection (may 2023) and we were described as a ‘Little Gem in the local community’ by the inspector.
We take any child from the age of 2 years up to school age and offer funded places to 2, 3 and 4 year olds (15 hours and 30 hours entitlement).
It is important to us that all children be given a nurturing environment and to be happy, sociable and confident in everything they do.
We take a maximum of 20 children with a total of 4 staff to enable us to be able to give children the very best start in their education.
Our outside environment enables the children to extend their learning even more – with a large sit in sandpit, a water feature to help their thinking skills, a quiet corner for reading, chances to make music, draw and use ALL their imagination.

Childcare Information and Additional Needs
Settling In
- How will you help children to settle into your setting?
- We offer pre-school visits and taster sessions, so that families can meet the team and the children can get familiar with their surroundings. We provide regular email, newsletters and social media input to develop our relationships with the children and their families. We invite the parents/carers to fill in an 'All about me' so we can familiarise ourselves with each child likes/dislikes etc.
Progress
- How will you communicate with parents/carers about their child's progress?
- We use a software called 'Tapestry' to share information, news and events via photographs, observations and termly reports. Also face to face/ telephone conversations - an open-door policy.
