Safe Time Nottinghamshire: The Children’s Society
Safe Time Nottinghamshire provides therapeutic support to children and young people aged 17 and under who have experienced sexual exploitation or abuse.
We aim to ensure that children and young people referred into Safe Time are kept safe and supported and that the level of risk is reduced, alongside improved emotional wellbeing.
The service will undertake an assessment and uses child friendly tools and measures including RCADS and CRIES 8. Our qualified and experienced counsellors and therapists deliver short to medium term work using a range of approaches to help children and young people make sense of and work through the impact, the feelings and the trauma associated with abuse.
Strategies and the discussion of ideas about ways of coping, creating safety and building resilience may also form a part of the therapy, helping to provide some substantive foundations to facilitate the child or young person’s healing and recovery. We provide pre-trial therapy in line with national guidance and sessions take place in a range of locations around the county. Where possible we aim to work with parents/carers.
Referrals into Safe Time can be made by any professional or agency via a Safe Time referral form which can be requested via email or telephone.
