Attenborough Church Pre-school
Term-Time Pre-School sessions for children from aged 2 years 3 months to school age, with an aim to develop children's personal, social and emotional skills, communication and language skills, physical development skills, literacy and numeracy skills, imagination and curiosity, through a wide range of playful activities inline with the Early Years Foundation Stage in readiness for starting school.
We have an experienced Staff Team of 10, with 2 Early Years Teachers Level 6 Qualified, 7 Level 3 Qualified Staff, and 1 Level 3 Apprentice.
We have the use of 2 large rooms in the Village Hall and an outstanding secure garden area, including a paved area, large grass area, play house, garden beds, mud kitchen, climbing apparatus and a specific area for Forest School activities.
Our main sessions run from 9:15am to 12:15pm and 12:15pm to 3:15pm Mondays to Fridays, with a lunch club session making a full day session from 9:15am to 3:15pm.
We also run a Breakfast Club from 8:00am to 9:15am Mondays to Fridays and an After-PreSchool Club from 3:15pm to 4:30pm Mondays to Thursdays. Children taking the morning session can also stay for lunch club which runs from 12:15pm to 1:00pm. Parents provide children with a healthy packed lunch if they are staying for lunch club. If we have the availability we offer ad-hoc sessions on top of a child's regular sessions. We can therefore offer 8:00am - 4:30pm Mondays to Thursdays, and 8:00am to 3:15pm on Fridays.
We plan engaging activities to help children develop, including PE sessions and early phonics (listening and attention skills in preparation for literacy teaching in reception).
All children have a Keyperson who keep development records on their Key children, and work closely with parents, but all Staff work with all the children.
We have close working relationships with local feeder schools to ensure smooth transitions to school.
Experienced Staff also run a Baby & Toddler Group where parents stay, 1:15pm to 2:45pm on a Friday afternoon during term time.

Childcare Information and Additional Needs
Settling In
- How will you help children to settle into your setting?
- We arrange a visit session with parent to attend along with the child where they will meet the key person and fill out registration forms. The settling in process can be adapted to your child's needs.
Progress
- How will you communicate with parents/carers about their child's progress?
- We use software called Famly to share information, news and events, including observations about a child's learning and development, and photos, with parents/carers. The manager publishes a weekly blog to parents to keep them informed as well as conversations with parents face-to-face at drop off and pick up. We also arrange keyperson meetings where the parent gets to come into our setting and chat to their child's keyperson about their child's development.

Highly recommend
Rated 5 out of 5Highly recommend - I sent my first set of twins attended in 2016 and loved it. It took them about a week to settle - the staff worked well together to make sure they felt safe and included.
Having another set of twins I had no reservations as to send them to the same pre-school. There has been some changes but some familiar faces remain. The staff are really friendly and helpful and work together making my children feel safe and included.
All my children love the really large garden space especially the bikes, sand tray and mud kitchen! They always come home with lots to tell me about what they have been doing during their day.
I recommend this childcare setting.
Rated 5 out of 5My son, who is now at school, has been attending for a couple of years, and he always enjoyed it. As children can start in this Preschool from the term after their second birthday, when our second child was born, we visited a few other nurseries nearby (as we were hoping to start her a bit earlier.) Ultimately, we decided to wait and send her to Attenborough Preschool, where the contact with staff is always excellent and where my son enjoyed it so much. My daughter loves it. The preschool staff is outstanding, has a lot of experience and the environment is lovely with a big garden. I like this Preschool's "pop up" format, which allows the toys and equipment to be frequently changed and leaves the environment uncluttered, unlike I saw in some other nurseries.
