Eastwood Volunteer Bureau
Eastwood Volunteer Bureau provides various services to the local community. These include:
- Unwanted furniture collected and given to local people who are unable to buy their own.
- Volunteer drivers using their own cars to take people who can't use public transport to the shops, doctors, lunch clubs etc.
- Other volunteers visiting older people who are on their own or reading to people with a visual impairment.

- Description
This voluntary transport scheme is for the people of the North Broxtowe area (Awsworth, Brinsley, Cossall, Eastwood, Giltbrook, Kimberley, Newthorpe, Nuthall and Watnall) who are unable to use public transport.
All of the drivers are volunteers, using their own vehicles and are only paid expenses to cover their running costs.
Who can use the voluntary car scheme?
- Anyone unable to use public transport because of disabilities.
- Anyone isolated geographically where no bus services are available.
- In certain circumstances people unable to afford taxis.
- All passengers must be able to get in and out of a car without being lifted or needing a lot of assistance.
There is also Car Scheme Plus - A wheelchair accessible Minibus transport service.
The Bureau has level access, services are provided on the ground floor and there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet and an induction/hearing loop system
