Little Acorns Pre-school
We are located in the semi-rural village of Shireoaks, within the grounds of St. Luke’s C.E. Primary School and provide pre-school education for children aged between the ages of 2 and 5. All our Practitioners hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in childcare.
We have a wide range of equipment available for the children to use and the space we have both indoors and outdoors enables them to become confident within their environment. Our pre-school is managed by a committee of parents and as we are a registered charity, any money we make is ploughed straight back into the pre-school. We are a community minded setting and we try and support other local groups and events that happen within the village.
We work closely with other childcare and Early Years professionals, and we understand that every child and their family are different, and everyone who walks through our doors is treated as an individual. Most of our staff are parents and we understand what it is like to leave your children.
We encourage parents who are interested in our pre-school to arrange to come in and visit us so you can see for yourself exactly what we have to offer you and your child. We believe that you can only tell if somewhere is right by coming in and talking to the staff and seeing the pre-school with happy children in it.

Childcare Information and Additional Needs
Settling In
- How will you help children to settle into your setting?
- We welcome parents and the children to come into the setting to meet the manager and the staff. We offer Home Visits plus 2 settling in sessions(more if the parents and child require) parents are expected to stay for these usually 1 hour long. Then we will offer a staggered start if requested by the family, every child is an individual so we adapt to each child's and families requirements.
Progress
- How will you communicate with parents/carers about their child's progress?
- We have Tapestry in Little Acorns so parents will see their child's progress and WOW moments from the setting. We will invite parents in after 3/4 weeks to discuss how they have settled and work alongside parents to make sure that every child is school ready before they leave us. Parents will have yearly parent meets with their child's keyworker. Plus we have an open door policy here where parents are free to chat to their keyworker or manager daily.
