Lynda Anne Walters
My name is Lynda Anne Walters and I have been a registered childminder since 1989. I live on my own, I've been a widow since 2017. My house is located in a suburb of Nottingham in a quiet residential area close to local schools and parks. I am registered on the Early Years Register and the compulsory part of the Childcare Register to care for a maximum of 6 children under 8 years including 3 in the Early Years age range. I am also registered on the voluntary part of the childcare register to care for older children. My first priority is the safety and welfare of the children I look after. Myself and my family living in the house, have a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) Disclosure. I follow my procedure for safeguarding children and follow the legal requirements to ensure that the children ‘stay safe’ which is one of the five outcomes of Every Child Matters.
I am an Ofsted registered childminder and a member of PACEY. I regularly attend childminding meetings, network meetings, local toddler groups and most recently an AGM.
I have obtained the following qualifications:

Childcare Information and Additional Needs
Settling In
- How will you help children to settle into your setting?
- I do a couple of hourly settling in sessions, more if the child needs it.
Progress
- How will you communicate with parents/carers about their child's progress?
- I try and chat with parents at the end of each night and I am available for chats on the phone if the parents prefer. I work with parents to support them with the child's learning.
Special Additional Needs
- Do you have experience of working with children with Special Education Needs
- Yes
- Experience:
-
- Details of SEND experience and training
- I promote equality of opportunity for all children in my care. I will ensure that so far as is reasonable the facilities, equipment and access to the premises are suitable for all children. If parents/carers notify me of special educational needs for their child I will ask for details of needs and what they are doing to support their needs. Plus I would draw up a plan with the parents/carers that would identify any specific support that I should provide.
- Is your setting accessible for children with physical disabilities?
- No
Dietary requirements
- How do you meet different dietary requirements?
- I promote healthy eating within my setting by ensuring that I provide children with the correct portion size for their development. I base my meals around the 'eat well plate'. I make a variety of healthy snacks available including fruits and vegetables, healthy drinks (water, milk and pure fruit juices) and dried fruit. Whilst in my care I will ensure that children have between 3-5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day. Dietary requirements are met for all children. Vegetarian options are provided for all meals.
