Open Wings Life and Work Skills Centre

Open Wings is not a Day Centre. It is a small, unique, bespoke and person centred service which was established so that adults with a wide variety of learning difficulties could access learning and activities in a small and calm, safe, friendly and supportive environment.

It is a place to go to if day centre provision is not always suitable. Groups are smaller and tutor to learner ratio is also small.

Learning is tailored to each individual and specific to their needs. If suitable, citizens can work towards gaining a work placement or employment.

Open wings Adult Learning was established by two sisters one of whom has over 25 years of experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and other disadvantaged groups. Anna Rossi is a qualified Adult Education Teacher and is also Shared Lives Adult Placement Carer showing her commitment and passion of working with adults with learning disabilities. Open Wings is extremely passionate about adult learning and our vision is to OPEN up opportunities, choices and possibilities which learners may not have been able to access in the past.

A calm place to come to, rather than a very busy place. A place where staff are friendly and help you to achieve the best that you can. We will design an Action Plan just for you

Groups which are small and  friendly and where learning is fun and where you decide what you want to learn or try.

The chance to become more independent.  Come along and join our Cooking and Living Skills sessions where you can learn and practice travel skills, money skills, working with others, and try out tasks which may help you become fitter and healthier.

A small service which can give you lots of support attention and help you try new things.  There are not usually more than 8- 10 citizens in one group. 1-2-1 sessions are also available.

Open Wings works with individuals, communities and voluntary and private sector organisations so that we can provide and deliver the best possible learning activities to meet the individual needs of our citizens.
