Do you know your Twitter from your Cloud?
In a modern society technology is seen as common place and new advancements are occurring every day. Most people use a smart phone, computer, tablet or the internet at least once a day and many of us take it for granted. However, statistics indicate that 85% of people aged 55+ have never used the internet.
If that is you, never fear! Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire, Business in the Community and Capital One have worked together to develop ClickSilver, a six-week computer course where participants receive one-to-one support from a volunteer to help them get to grips with the internet, emails and social media.
Working in conjunction with Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham, ClickSilver matches each older person with their own student mentor to guide them through the course.
ClickSilver gives older people the knowledge and confidence to access information safely online, helping to provide more financial security for their future.
The course is suitable for people who know absolutely nothing about the computers and the internet through to those who wish they knew a bit more.
Who is this service for?
Over 55’s with no or limited computer skills.
What support can ClickSilver offer?
Participants will learn a variety of skills including how to use a computer and the internet safely, send emails, attach photos and use social media. The course offers one to one support and is flexible to individual needs.
