Advanced Music Ensemble

The Advanced Music Ensemble offers gifted and talented young musicians across Nottinghamshire a supportive, professional environment in which to play together in a variety of venues.

The standard expected within the Orchestra is Grade 6 upwards and the music played covers many genres, from classical to contemporary; film music to jazz. As a member of the AME you will be encouraged to input into the choice of programme and given the opportunity to arrange or compose your own pieces for performance. You may also be offered the chance to perform solo pieces within the orchestral concerts.

Within the AME there are a number of smaller ensembles, which rehearse and perform throughout the year, outside of the main orchestral programme. These are often instigated by the group members themselves and sectionals are run by the young performers.

The AME has an ongoing partnership with the Halle Orchestra where the group’s young performers are mentored and play alongside professional orchestral musicians within the Halle  concerts at The Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham.
