Falls Service - Newark and Sherwood
Falls Prevention
We help identify why our patients may have fallen or feel at risk of falls and provide intervention to help maintain their independence and prevent hospital admissions.
This may mean exercises or functional activities to develop muscle strength and balance. It may mean provision of equipment or minor adaptations to the home environment, and advise on performing activities of daily living safely.
We have occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses and support workers, with specialist knowledge about falls prevention, who will help patients help themselves and offer advice to family, friends and carers.
We also provide assessment and advice to maintain bone health and reduce injury.
Our service is mainly provided in patient homes including care homes. We offer balance classes at Mansfield Community Hospital and Ashfield Health Village.
