Safe Haven Day Nursery
Safe Haven Day Nursery is an old renovated barn, which was opened in 2000. The nursery is a listed building with many unique characteristics, including low ceilings and original beams, which gives a homely feel. The front of the nursery has unique barn doors that open and close for added security at night.
We aim to provide a stimulating and loving environment. We want our children to find learning:
- Exciting
- Enjoyable
- Rewarding
Our aim is for our children to leave Safe Haven feeling loved, secure and valued.
The nursery has three floors with four main rooms. Baby room, Toddler Room, Pre-school room and a Sensory Room.
We also have a separate after school club further along High Street, Mansfield Woodhouse which caters for children aged 5 to 14 years. (The Den - Out of School Club)
Our baby and toddler rooms both have a separate sleep room so the children can have a quiet space to get the rest that they need. We also have a separate dining room, which is used by the toddler and pre-school children and is a great social time.
We have three outdoor areas, one that surrounds the conservatory in the baby room, and one that is fenced and sectioned into two areas. One area is for the Toddlers, and the other for the Pre-School children. Each area has equipment suitable for the children’s age, and to aid their development. The children have opportunity to access the garden on a daily basis, in good and mild bad weather.
Safe Haven is situated in the middle of Mansfield Woodhouse a growing residential area with a number of schools locally. Mansfield Woodhouse has a growing multi-cultural population. From opening the nursery we have built a diverse staff team, with a range of different backgrounds. We are increasingly developing a multi-cultural setting with a number of children from different ethnic backgrounds.
We liaise with our local sure start centre and have a good relationship with all our feeder schools, which enables us to provide smooth and effective transitions to school. We have staff co-ordinator roles, to establish a point of support for both staff and parents. The co-coordinators work together and catalogue information to provide a more inclusive setting.
