Ginny's Good Yarn

Therapeutic lifelong learning for people living with dementia, mental health difficulties, learning disabilities, enduring grief or end of life illnesses.

Much of my work involves textile crafts. For instance, supporting bereaved people in making memory quilts, using yarn, fabric and craft tools to facilitate reminiscence therapy for people living with dementia, supporting self esteem by teaching a sustainable textile craft skill to produce a piece of work to show off.

Reminiscence Therapy, Life Review Therapy, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, Memory Box Curation, Therapeutic Crafting, Knit Your Own Self Esteem, Memory Quilts

I make fidget blankets, memory cushions (from your loved one's shirt or blouse) and knitted stress/hand exercise balls to order

I am an accredited lifelong learning practitioner with an M.Ed in Lifelong Learning and Inclusive Education and hold a Diploma in Counselling. I have over 30 years' professional experience of teaching and supporting people with lived experience of dementia, physical or learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, and enduring grief. I hold accredited status with the National Association of Disability Practitioners, have full DBS and am a member of the National Association of Activity Providers. I'm also a Dementia Champion.
