Base 51 Counselling Service provides time and space for young people aged 12 to 25 to talk about their troubles and explore difficult feelings in an environment which is dependable, free from intrusion and confidential. Counsellors at Base 51 respect young people’s viewpoint while helping them to deal with specific problems, cope with crises, improve their relationships, or develop better ways of living.
Counselling offers the young person help to gain insight into their feelings, thoughts and behaviour and to work with them to create the necessary or wanted changes which help alleviate their distress. Young people come to counselling for many issues including relationships, family issues, bullying, neglect, violence, abuse, anger, trauma, being self-critical, adoption, loss, foster-care, bereavement, sexuality, exploitation, drugs and alcohol, disordered eating, anxiety, panic, stress, depression, suicidal thoughts or self-harm to name a few!
