- Communication with parents is key and this enables me to provide the children with a familiar routine. I get to know the child through asking the parents questions and understanding their likes and dislikes.
Progress
- How will you communicate with parents/carers about their child's progress?
- There is always time to pass information on at drop off or pick up, but I always ensure I update parents throughout the day to let them know what their child has been busy doing by sending pictures and messages.

Gemma is an outstanding childminder! Second-to-none!
Rated 5 out of 5Gemma is an outstanding childminder. She goes above and beyond and without question I would recommend her to anyone who is reaching out for a superb person to watch your child.
Our baby was just 7/8 months old when he started to be looked after by Gemma, and we quickly increased this time from 1 day to 3 days per week, as we weren’t going to let that slot be snapped up!
The regular daily communication and frequent photos she takes of our little boy, and the way she keeps us updated, consistently throughout the day, reassures us that he is in no doubt in safe hands.
The themed weeks she organises, such as bear week, science week, Peter Rabbit week (to name a few!) have been awesome. The pictures, stamping, cards, drawings, birthday gifts, mother’s/father’s day gifts (from our little boy) via Gemma have been amazing too (although we have had to buy a folder now to ensure we don’t lose any of these precious keepsakes!).
Our little boy has had an array of food choice provided by Gemma and has actually given us inspiration about what to feed him at home! Although, I feel our little one eats better than us on the days he’s with Gemma!
The report/log in a shared book has proven to be fantastic too, it gives us a really clear and overview of what our little boy’s day has looked like from his nap times, to what he has ate/drank and his nappy status!
She has a lovely big garden and inside space fully equipped for our little one now he’s on the move. It’s a home from home and we know our little boy feels so at ease when he is there.
As a parent, you couldn’t ask for more. Gemma is warm, welcoming, kind, has a witty sense of humour (watch that!), and provides a learning environment.
She understands what it means, being a parent herself, she displays the empathy, affection, she's fair, and her sincere nature is exactly what we wanted in a childminder.
We are truly grateful for the last 4 months and our little boy has come on leaps and bounds in his development/motor skills/communication skills, and will no doubt continue to do so because of Gemma.
