Researchers at the University of Nottingham are looking for people with dementia and their carers to take part in a new study about group singing.
We are looking for people who have recently been diagnosed with dementia and their carers to take part in this study investigating the benefits of community group singing. People who agree to take part will be invited to attend 10 weeks of group singing sessions, led by experienced musicians. The groups will be fun and informal, and no experience of singing is necessary, just a willingness to have a go. Researchers will collect information using questionnaires and by talking to people about their experiences in the group. Singing groups will be starting in the Mapperley area initially, and in the Mansfield area later in the year.
In order to take part you need to
- have a recent diagnosis of dementia
- be willing to come to ten weeks of singing sessions
- have a carer who is prepared to attend the group with you
- not be currently involved in any organised singing activities (except for religious services/meetings)
Please get in touch with us to find out more and to discuss your eligibility.
