Community Organising Notts
Community Organising is the work of bringing people together to take action around their common concerns and overcome social injustice. Community Organisers reach out and listen, connect and motivate people to build their collective power.
Community organising Notts is one of 20 National Social Action Hubs that will be delivering CO training and supporting people to take actiion on the things they care about withing their community.
We are a locally rooted organisation and supported by an Experienced Community Organiser. Through training local leaders and volunteers at a neighbourhood level they will strengthen the networks of community organisers and be catalysts for resident-led social action.
Our training courses introduce you to the core foundations of community organising – genuine, effective listening which sparks dialogue and explores motivations, an analysis of power in community and how to build it, and an exploration of how to organise and motivate people to take effective action together to address common concerns.
The courses aim to achieve these learning outcomes:
To understand the importance of listening to build relationships
To begin to explore power and power dynamics in communities
To appreciate how to motivate people to take action
To plan your next steps and actions in community organising
The training is free. It is run by Sneinton Alchemy CIC, Social Action Hub and supported by Inuka.
The courses are approved as quality training provision by Awarding Body Certa and as Professional Development by CPD. Certification for this can be achieved though completion of a short “learning log” at the end of the course.
