Gedling transport plus scheme
Would you, or someone you know, like some additional support with some everyday activities such as shopping or visits to the GP?
If so, our new Transport+ service is there to provide a little extra help to access those services and activities which will ensure that an independent life as possible can be enjoyed for as long as possible.
How we can help you
Transport+ is an extension of our existing successful voluntary transport scheme and is designed to help you or your loved ones to live independently and happily at home. We know how important it is to remain connected with the community, and understand that a little extra support when you are out and about can make a world of difference.
Under Transport+, in addition to driving, our transport volunteers can provide help with tasks such as:
- Assistance with shopping
- Accompany on social and recreational activities outside the home
- Provide a companion service
- Attend as an observer or chaperone at GP surgery appointments
You will need to be registered with our transport scheme and pre-book the service you require two working days in advance.
Our Transport volunteers
All our transport volunteers are friendly, reliable and caring people who enjoy meeting new people. They receive training and are police checked via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Where possible, we will aim to provide the same volunteer to accompany you on regular trips, so you can get to know each other.
Making sure you’re safe
We have over 30 years of experience, and a wealth of knowledge, of supporting older people to retain their independence. The health and wellbeing of our clients is at the heart of everything we do and gives great reassurance to both clients and their families.
Alleviating loneliness and isolation and improving wellbeing is embedded in our day-to-day activities, and we take great care and pride in providing a safe and friendly service.
Our Customer Care Promise
We promise:
- to always listen to you and make sure the service we provide meets your needs
- to provide you with a professional, efficient and friendly service
- to seek your feedback to make sure our service meets our high standards and your expectations.

As a charity we need to make a charge for some of our services to help us cover the cost of running them as we do not receive enough funding from other sources. We strive to offer high quality services at prices that are affordable to those who need them. By using our Transport+ service you are helping us to support older, vulnerable and disabled people in the local community.
